John R. Alcorn is officially certified as an Immigration and Nationality Law Specialist attorney. To achieve this high distinction, an attorney must have taken and passed a written examination in immigration and nationality law, demonstrated a high level of experience in this complex field of law, obtained favorable peer review recommendation, and fulfilled continuing legal education requirements.

Mr. Alcorn has served as a Commissioner on the Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Commission of the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Stanford University awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science to Mr. Alcorn in 1970, and he received a Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1973. He served as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1977, and worked on U.S. immigration matters for a major U.S. corporation from 1977 to 1979. He founded the Law Offices of John R. Alcorn in 1980.
