Jim Gilchrist’s Essay on Illegal Immigration Published by Georgetown University Law School Journal

"The Minuteman Reconsidered"

It’s easy to call Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist of Aliso Viejo a froth-mouthed racist agitator, especially if you ignore a few inconvenient truths.

Faultfinder “Celebrates” Murder by Minutemen Imposters?

From: Vincent Burke [mailto:vinc7333@hotmail.com]
To: Jim G
Subject:  Former Minuteman Celebrates Murder?  Excerpts below:

Jim,

More likely that she [Shawna Forde] bought the ammo with the money YOU provided her.  The bloody hands may be yours !

And as to your pitiful response to this e-mail, all I care to say is....

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha !!!!!!

Vincent Burke (Ca.)

Reply from Jim Gilchrist:

Mr. Burke,

The murder of a father and his nine-year-old daughter is not a laughing matter.  Your amusement over the matter is not that of a safe or sane individual.  I find almost as alarming your intention of using this tragic double homicide as an opportunity for “celebration.”

In your desire to use this horrific incident as a glorious opportunity to falsely blame the Minuteman Project as its cause, let me remind you that the Minuteman Project was only one of at least a dozen or more organizations into which Shawna Forde attempted to insert herself.  Failing that, she created her own organization and operated independently.

Let me correct the misinformation which you rely on to pass judgment.

The Minuteman Project did not provide Shawna Forde with any money.  She and her accompanying bandits had constant interaction with at least a dozen other immigration groups including, but not limited to, many of the same groups with which you also interact:

1.  William Gheen’s ALIPAC, which, according to Forde, attempted to recruit her several times to represent ALIPAC in  Washington state.  When Forde turned down ALIPAC’s invitation, Gheen apparently marked Forde, like he has many others, for harassment and intimidation over the internet by sending out severe hate emails to tens of thousands of persons about Forde for several months.

[Hint to William Gheen and ALIPAC:  While not directly responsible for the criminal behavior of Shawna Forde and her partners in crime, ALIPAC, Chelene Nightingale, and Jeff Schwilk are responsible for adding fuel to her apparent already unstable mental condition, in my opinion.  Relentless attacks by you three via the internet upon her character may very well have fueled her anger to the point of no return].

2.  Patriots Border Alliance (PBA) where she participated in border observation activities in Arizona one time.

3.  Ken Dreger’s Camp Vigilance in Boulevard, Ca. where she was a welcomed guest.

4. Robert Crooks’ Mountain Minutemen group where she received her first training in border observation.  Crooks’ Mountain Minutemen are notorious for producing and distributing a video “snuff film” referred to as “To Kill A Mexican.”  The video portrayed a minuteman shooting to death an illegal alien on the border in Campo, Ca.  The video was considered a training film by some unwary and naïve civilian volunteers in the minuteman movement.

[Hint to Robert Crooks and his merry band of Mountain Minutemen:  Encouraging violence and murder is neither a generally accepted nor a civilized means of solving a problem].

5. The California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR)

6. Save Our State (SOS) -- Joined William Gheen’s ALIPAC and Jeff Schwilk’s San Diego Minutemen (SDMM) in conducting a relentless internet hate mail barrages against Shawna Forde for several months.

[Hint to Chelene Nightingale and SOS:  While not directly responsible for the criminal behavior of Shawna Forde and her partners in crime, Gheen, Chelene Nightingale, and Jeff Schwilk are responsible for adding fuel to her apparent already unstable mental condition, in my opinion.  Relentless attacks by you three via the internet upon her character may very well have fueled her anger to the point of no return].

7. Jeff Schwilk’s San Diego Minutemen (SDMM), another group known for its use of cyber terrorism to intimidate persons.  Schwilk was convicted last month of cyber-terrorism/malicious defamation/intimidation of a young Asian girl who simply disagreed with Schwilk’s hostile position against immigrants.  Schwilk was ordered to pay $135,000 in punitive damages to the victim after subjecting her to a relentless series of very ugly internet attacks and postings.

[Hint to Jeff Schwilk:  Being mean and vile will not peacefully resolve our nation’s illegal immigration problem].

8.  Campo Minutemen in Campo, Ca. -  Forde visited the outpost once during the summer of 2008 and apparently interviewed minutemen/women there.

9. The Minuteman Project – Forde intermittently sent email reports and photos of border activities to MMP, as she did for several other organizations; occasionally called in search of prospective contacts involved in border observation patrols.  Forde never asked MMP for any money and she was never provided any money, despite deliberately falsified reports to the contrary by MMP adversaries in ALIPAC, SOS, SDMM, and CCIR.

10.  Deborah Courtney, disgruntled terminated MMP member, recently contacted Forde to do fund raising and to write promotional press releases for Forde’s group.  MMP possesses email to document these offers by Deborah Courtney.

11.  Border Patrol Auxiliary (BPAUX) which casually conducts border observation activities in California.

12.  Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC), which Forde represented as a chapter leader in Washington and also joined in its border observation activities where she became friendly with MCDC’s former president, an unwary Chris Simcox.

13. American Border Patrol, for which Forde conducted some temporary border observation activity.

14.  ALIPAC, SDMM, CCIR, and SOS members apparently had repeated email and/or telephone communications with Forde during the past three years; mostly hate emails and calls, according to Forde.

15.  Uncounted individual minutemen and women who operate independent of any organization.  Some of these persons, like the Metzgers, claim Forde actually lived at their homes from time to time.  The above list is only a handful of contacts Forde had with border and immigration enforcement groups and individuals.

A final note:

Criminal mentalities are not created by the organizations or activist movements they try to join.  They use an organization or activist movement as a cover to cloak their sinister intentions.   Unfortunately, there are criminal-minded persons who will use the minuteman movement to conduct such agendas.

Likewise, some police officers, clergymen,  politicians, or stock brokers use their professional organizations as a cloak to conceal their criminal intent.  They exist in every  race, color, creed, sex, and vocation.  And by the tone of Mr. Burke’s hate mail, he may be one of them.
